Examples of Work
Training and published resources
- Co-authored Mind Your Words, an eLearning course hosted by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) for professionals supporting children and young people with communication and mental health needs.
- Co-delivered a session on practitioner wellbeing through the Solihull Approach at an annual local council conference for early years practitioners.
- Delivered training for National Health Service (NHS) mental health staff on supporting children and young people with selective or situational mutism.
- Designed and delivered training for local council and NHS practitioners on the relationship between communication and children’s mental health.
- Co-authored the RCSLT’s Supporting children and young people’s mental health services factsheet.
Service and pathway development
- Co-produced a multi-agency selective or situational mutism pathway with children, young people, families and professionals.
- Led a service-development project exploring the role of speech and language therapy across children and young people’s mental health pathways. Consultation, surveys and stakeholder engagement informed the recommendations. The work was published in the RCSLT Bulletin as The role of SLTs in child and adolescent mental health services.
Coaching, supervision and reflective practice
- Provided one-to-one coaching for NHS child and adolescent mental health practitioners on making psychological therapy and mental health support more communication accessible.
- Provided one-to-one supervision for specialists working in children and young people’s mental health services.
- Led reflective-practice groups for speech and language therapists working in local council youth justice services.
National leadership
- Supporting national collaboration, workforce development and shared learning as a Steering Group member of the Children & Young People Allied Health Professionals Clinical Leadership Network.
