My Approach
Every project is different, but the way I approach my work is consistent.
The Communication for Connection Framework has grown from years of clinical practice, consultancy, collaboration, and continual learning. It reflects my belief that when people come together around shared values and what matters, something unique and lasting happens. People begin to understand one another in new ways, communication becomes something we build together, and lasting change becomes possible.
Whether I'm working with children and young people, families, practitioners, organisations or communities, these principles shape the way I work.
Bring People Together
Bringing people together creates opportunities to explore what matters, listen to different perspectives and develop shared understanding.
Whether working with children and young people, families, practitioners, organisations or communities, I create spaces where people can contribute, reflect and learn from one another.
Through these shared experiences, new ideas emerge, relationships grow stronger, and people create meaningful change together.
What Matters Shapes Communication
Communication matters in different ways to different people, at different times and in different contexts.
Sometimes communication takes centre stage. Sometimes it quietly holds relationships together, reflects who we are, or helps us experience a sense of belonging. At other times, another story is unfolding, where rest, safety or simply being present matter most.
My starting point is to understand what matters to the people involved and explore the role communication might play. When communication grows from what matters, it becomes something shared, meaningful and owned by the people using it.
Create Together
The people closest to an experience often hold the greatest insight into what matters.
I enjoy creating alongside children and young people, families, practitioners, organisations and communities, developing approaches that reflect their strengths, priorities, cultures and different ways of communicating.
The aim is not simply to design something new, but to create something that is meaningful, sustainable and genuinely owned by the people who create it.
Keep Learning
Every project creates opportunities to learn.
I believe learning grows through curiosity, reflection, shared experience and listening to one another.
Each project also shapes the ongoing development of the Communication for Connection Framework. Whether learning happens within a local community or alongside partners in different countries, every conversation has the potential to deepen understanding, strengthen relationships and open new possibilities for communication, connection and belonging.
Let's Explore It Together
If these ideas resonate with you and you're exploring new ways to strengthen communication, connection and belonging, I'd be delighted to start a conversation.
